Debbie Hobbs

Growing up in the rural Bennetts Creek area of Suffolk, Debbie lived with her parents right on the banks of the Nansemond River. She always had an affinity for wildlife which she often encountered along the river. Debbie received her degree in art from Virginia Tech. In 1991, she began working in soft pastels, under the teaching of Frances Beamon. She quickly fell in love with the medium, finally able to get the image in her head on the paper. She quickly progressed in pastels and began teaching others at the local art museum in 1994. Over the years her love for local scenes was evident in her work.
